It’s perfectly natural to feel uneasy about storing sensitive financial and personal information in a loose-leaf binder. Legacy Essential Tasks is structured to avoid that concern.
First, we strongly recommend using a secure, encrypted password manager. Whenever a template requests confidential information—such as login credentials—you’ll see this reminder: “For security purposes, refer to your password manager.” If a template includes a space for any information you consider to be sensitive, feel free to skip it and reference your password manager or another secure location instead. This means you never need to write sensitive data directly into the binder.
To further safeguard your information, we suggest storing the binder—and any original documents—in a secure but accessible location. Suitable options include a small home safe, a locked file cabinet, the custody of a trusted advisor. Choose a storage solution that offers the right balance of protection and convenience for your needs.

Some tasks will be easy to fulfill, it’s just a matter of locating and organizing information that you already have, while other tasks are more involved. Yet, this project need not be overwhelming. Think in terms of one task each week or perhaps two per month. In short, find a pace that is comfortable and realistically doable for you.
-
Absolutely! Legacy Essential Tasks serve a dual purpose: (1) organizing essential documents and information for easy access simplifies your everyday life, and (2) having your vital records organized will assist your family if the unexpected happens.
-
It depends. Couples who share their financial affairs equally can download an extra copy of the Personal Wishes’ templates to cover their individual choices. However, if their financial affairs are not fully shared, we recommend separate plans.
-
Yes. Several advisors have told us that many of their clients have asked them how to address end-of-life planning beyond the services they already provide—how to simplify the process, prepare in advance, and ensure that their families are supported during a difficult time. Legacy provides a thoughtful, relationship-enhancing way to engage with those clients.
